Body three basic activities

Three basic actitvites going on In the self and the body

just like needs, activities too differ for the self and the body. There are some actitvies that og on only in the self, some only in the body and then there are some activities that required both the self and the body .
activities that go on only in the self range from feeling happy or sad , to think and imagine from analyzing and understanding , to dreaming and desiring. These activities do not need the body to take place .

you can indulge in them without being aware of them . moreover, these activities take place irrespective of the state of the body at the time they go on . for  instance, you might be  reading a book when something in it reminds you of an incident that had happened to you and you start thinking about it without realizing that you have stopped reading  the book and have travelled  back in time to the instant that incident had taken place.

Thus activities in the self go on automatically and are not dependent on the body .activities that go on only in the body are independent of the self . the body itself is a set of self-organized activities that occur without the consent of the self or I. these are functions like breathing , disgestion and other organ function . for instance , we do not make our heart to beat . it beats of its own. Thus activities going on only in the body are independent of the self.
Activities involving both the body and the self are the various things we do on a daily basis . for instance eatings, sleeping, walking , studying, working , etc. are all tasks that require both the body and the self . taking an example, runing is an activity that requires not only the legs to carry out the action but also the self to instruct the legs to carry out the action .

so the decision and  choice are made in I of self and these are carried out by the body . similary , listening too requires the ears to carry out the task but the self is needed to attend to the inputs coming from the ears. In other words , whenever there is involvement of sence-oranges (taste, smell, etc.) or work-organs (legs, hands etc.), both body and self are involved. The self or the I has the ability To think , imagene , talk , walk , work etc. , and thus it is the jeevan. It possesses the characteristic of being aware or conscious. Thus it is called the consciounsness. The self of I as a conscious entity undertakes the activities  of knowing , assuming , recognizing and fulfilling.
